Warnings: This is an open event thread. Thread jacking, hopping, character romance, violence, and any and all things in between are possible. (But if you're going to do some private intimate things please make a separate thread about it)

The first most noticeable thing was the lights. In a perpetually dreary place like Gotham they could stay on no matter the time of day, casting a warm glow all about the streets and parks that had been connected to create the Charity Carnival. The streets were opened up during the day so that people could get to and from work, then in the evening they were blocked off so that pedestrians could meander about freely withoiut worrying about the cross walks. But whether in cars or on foot; they could always see the lights.

In the inter connected parks scattered around the Wayne Resilient tower there were myriad attractions:

Boothes where games could be played for prizes,
Rides,
Foods of all kinds (mostlly either fried or sugar coated),
and even a small section where locals had rented tables to sell arts and crafts that had been hand made.

And at the center of it all was the Wayne Resilient tower which contained a 5 star restaurant that was the staging area for the Celebrity Date Auction to be held later in the week.

Even the first two floors of the building had been repurposed into a kind of exhibit featuring current and upcoming Waynetech devices designed to improve the lives of the people who used them. Including the prototype for a brand new line of Waynetech smart cars. The event was in honor of the 4th of July but the entire week had been scheduled and included things like live music, fire breathers, gymnasts and a petting zoo.

And on the night of the 4th of course; a fantastic fireworks display arranged by Wayne Resilient with another new innovation of theirs; safe fireworks. Specially designed for sound and color and burst with no heat behind it to endanger fireworks handlers or civilians.

With everything that had been planned and all the staffing involved it was truly looking to be a week to remember.

"Sometimes it is, most times it's just annoying." he replied, taking a long drag from his cigar and thinking of what to say next, "I'm not up for bid, and I won't be bidding, no." the man couldn't help but tilt his head, "Though I'd be halfway tempted if you had a price tag." why not hit on someone? He was there anyway, and Cait was nice enough, definitely not bad on the eyes. But then another voice cut in, making David's brow go up as he turned slightly to regard the newcomer.

Oh thank sweet merciful crap, someone else was here. David smirked and flicked the ashes from his cigar off to the side, "So it is. Distract her for me." he wasn't polite about it, and David certainly did wish to investigate that smoke.. it could be fun, as he'd made no such promise not to fight tonight. The date auction didn't interest him any further than the idea that super women had super bodies, and dates could lead to more easily enough. "I'm going to check out that smoke. Could be fun."

Caitlin tilted her head slightly at the man she'd conversed with on the telepathic level before and made a pouting expression when David excused himself. Still, her expression quickly changed back into a smile as she turned her attention over to the Showman. "Of course I'm real. You can't have telepathic conversations with imaginary people silly." The woman waved her hand girlishly and shook her head.

"What brings you around? Are you here to try the shooting game? Because from what I've seen it's been very popular tonight." If the woman had any kind of complicated thoughts behind her bright green eyes, they certainly weren't showing up in her happy smile or cheerful demeanor.

"I'm more fond of the freak shows and haunted houses myself." He said cooly, looking her over. "How cordial of you to make your presence known to the world, had I not known better, I'd think...." He stared at her, tapping his fingers on the monster-headed cane of his. "Well, nevermind what I would think."

"You think that I should be hiding or something?" She asked curiously. "Hiding from what? From whom? There is nothing shameful in helping lost souls become whole again." The woman's eyes flitted briefly from the man to Rose standing a short distance away, waiting as he made idle conversation with her. "You keep some damaged company yourself. Are you hoping to use your abilities to smooth over the fractures in her imperfect fusion?"

The woman's smile never falters, though her tone takes on a mysterious quality that goes a bit farther than mere curiosity. She takes a moment to run a few fingers through her shoulder length hair, twisting around the strands casually so that they're left with a partial curl when her hand finally drops back down to her side.
